5 Home Decor Ideas: How to Make Your Home Look Expensive on a Budget

As soon as I move anywhere, my immediate thoughts are engulfed by home decor. I become absolutely infatuated with different home decor ideas, color themes, floor plan layouts, and more. However, all of this is incredibly expensive.

Yes, home decor is expensive and loving to design your home can be a financial strain. With that said, moving in general is expensive. So, whether you’re moving somewhere new or simply looking to revamp your home decor, there is no reason to break the bank doing so.

Windows are a great way to make your home look expensive! You can easily create this look by using long curtains. By placing the curtains up a little higher than your actual window you can create the illusion of larger windows and higher ceilings.

This one is so easy and simple to do and can be super affordable. The small details as such can make such a huge difference.

Floor mirrors are a great way to decorate your home. They look expensive and fill in more space which are two things most of us want to achieve.

These mirrors are such a great find. Not only do they bring a modern and expensive look to your home but they are literally less than $100… that’s crazy! However, floor mirrors are not the only form of floor decor you can use for your home.

Floor vases are another great way to add expensive looking decor to your home without having to break the bank. This vase is less than $30 dollars but looks so expensive with the modern stone type of look it has to it.

I highly recommend in investing in large floor pieces for around your home as it looks amazing but also expensive.

With that considered, keep in mind how you can decorate the sides of your bed. I like to keep what is next to my bed symmetrical. So, for example, I have nightstands next to my bed, then tall bookshelves filled with books. Some people like to use night stands and mirrors or night stands and plants. Those are all pretty affordable options with such an elegant expensive look.

Lighting

Hear me out, most people would argue that super modern lighting is the most luxurious look. However, I would argue that both modern and vintage lighting is amazing for uplifting your home decor. Simply put, outdated lighting doesn’t always go hand in hand with vintage, so be careful with this one. Vintage lighting has to be decorated well with the other features of your home or rather than enhancing the expensive look it could ruin it.

Next, modern lighting! Modern lighting these days is often super bright. Adding the bright white LED lighting to your bathroom mirrors or putting in white light bulbs for your fixtures is a great and simple way to make things look more expensive.

However, if you are not willing to spend $200+ on a bathroom mirror like that, it is still so easy to add a lighting fixture with white light to achieve the same hue.

Living Room

Your living room is the best place to pick, if any, to have luxury looking items. Since the living room is typically the area most people hang out, it is good to focus on this area.

For example, I like to have statement items in my living room. I have a gorgeous cow hide rug that everyone compliments whenever they visit my apartment. However, animal fur rugs may not be your thing, but there are many faux animal rugs you can use as alternatives. Not only are faux animal rugs luxurious looking, but they are so inexpensive, even cheaper than a regular rug sometimes.

There are even better ways to bring a statement piece in to your living room such as a beautiful coffee table. I am a coffee table fanatic. They are more often than not, so important! I have always wanted a large enough living room to be able to go all out with my coffee table decor, however, for now, a girl can dream.
