7 Amazing Books That I Wish I Could Read For The First Time Again

Nov. 07, 2023

As an avid reader, I have so many books to recommend that I read throughout this year and truly enjoyed! Many of these books either brought me to tears, laughter, or served as a great learning opportunity for me through a beautifully written story!

The books I am about to recommend are my absolute favorites! However, if you preference romance reads, I have some great romance books to recommend here! I encourage you to read them as well and comment your own thoughts and feelings toward them. ๐Ÿ™‚

Books I recommend

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

This book will likely forever be on the top of my list as one of my favorites I have ever read! I learned a lot from this book and enjoyed every page, although many pages brought me to tears.

This book can be considered a historical fiction and although I never thought I would have favored that genre, the unfamiliarity with the setting brought me to love this more. I say this because as I said earlier, it allowed me to learn more about a time period and setting I may not have known much about otherwise. This story made me realize I want to read way more historical fiction!

With that said, I am not too familiar with the culture and therefore I encourage others to read this themselves to form their own opinion on it, however, I am sure it will allow many readers to learn more about an environment they may know very little of described through the experience of two fictional characters.

I give this book 5 stars!!

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

The Silent Patient is more creepy genre of a book, so don’t say I didn’t warn you! However, it is a great read and toward the end I found myself rereading pages to see if I had noticed the plot or if I had read it right because I was so shocked!

With that said, that is all I will say about this book and I encourage you to look no further on book reviews regarding it so you don’t spoil the plot. Read the book yourself and let me know your reaction!

I give this one 5 stars!

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

Things We Never Got Over is a book I almost couldn’t put down. I loved it!!

I interpreted this book simply as follows…Knox, a grumpy knight in shining armor, and Naomi, an optimistic piece of sunshine, surprisingly make for an amazing pair.

However, to get more complex, Naomi changes her life for the better by skipping her wedding, but her twin stops by to make things interesting. Naomi’s twin stops by, taking everything from her and leaving her with her niece. This is where Knox steps in and the beginning of a complicated but an amazing love story starts.

Nonetheless, after reading this I decided Lucy Score might be one of my favorite authors. I couldn’t be more excited to read more of this collection this year.

Lucy Score has came out with two more books for this series and I have already bought the second. I am so excited to start reading it and look forward to purchasing and reading the third as well. Lucy Score’s story telling is amazing and I am just confident I will love these additions too.

I give this one 5 stars!!

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi

This is a nonfiction book written by Paul Kalanithi. This book was beautifully written and has a way of making you think of life differently. This book explains what it is like to essentially come face to face with morality. As a doctor who treats patients on a daily basis the concept still can present itself differently when his own morality comes into question. It is a very interesting and insightful read and I encourage others to add it to their list!

I gave this one 5 stars!

Verity by Coleen Hoover

Of all of the nine Coleen Hoover books I have read, this one is my favorite! This is another one where I do not want to spoil the plot, however, I will say a few things. This book takes a few twists and turns and maintains an overall creepy setting. I found myself getting frustrated or annoyed with characters or on the edge of my seat. This is a book in the thriller setting, so it maintains that status for sure!

I gave this one a 4 stars! If you love creepy, thriller books, I recommend you give it a read.

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose

The Perfect Marriage: a completely gripping psychological suspense

Here comes another thriller read! Thriller is one of my favorite genres and it is because I love a suspenseful plot twist that makes me question whether or not I was paying attention to or have missed something. The perfect marriage is another one of those. With that said, the lower rating that I will mention in a moment is because even if I do read this a few times over I don’t think the author fully hinted at the ending. With that said, it is still an enjoyable read!

As you walk through a murder mystery, a man suspected of murdering his mistress, and his wife being the attorney who takes on his case, I am sure you can suspect how many question marks will be raised through reading this. You will feel betrayal, confusion, sadness, and a whole lot more upon reading this!

I give this 4 stars!

Reminders of Him by Coleen Hoover

This book had me in tears for the majority of the read! This makes for a great but tragic love story in some ways. However, I encourage you to read this for yourself to learn and understand the plot without spoiling anything. With that said, this love story is about Kenna and Ledger. Kenna served time in prison due to a tragic mistake. Kenna, who has a four year old daughter, is on a mission to build a relationship with her daughter and in the process meets Ledger, who seems to be her only hope.

I gave this one 4 stars!
